Teacher education at the Faculty of Arts USB

The Faculty of Arts of JU is preparing a DVPP course entitled Archival Pedagogy and Education as one of the current European trends in the use of historical cultural heritage for autumn 2025. Participants of the course will be introduced to current trends in archival pedagogy and education within the framework of the PR approach referred to as "Open Archive". These methods use traditional PR methods as well as the help of digital technologies, modern media and a variety of interactive outputs to present the cultural and historical national heritage. These events are designed for the public, as well as for school children and students, and represent one of the most accessible forms of introducing the general public to historical sources and to the wealth of cultural and historical heritage held in archives. Participants will also learn about other possibilities of archival pedagogy when used in the framework educational programmes (e.g. in history, historical and social sciences, civic education, etc.). During the eight lessons, the lecturers will introduce them to the possibilities of using these practices (e.g. workshops, exhibitions, interactive games, work with historical sources, special books, etc.) in school education, using concrete examples of activities of archival departments abroad and in the Czech Republic.
The next DVPP course entitled Current Approaches and Topics in Czech Language Teaching will take place on 23 April 2025. The course will introduce secondary school teachers to new topics and trends in teaching in line with the current state of contemporary literary research. It will focus on preferred areas of research in contemporary literary studies, including an overlap with world literature. The course will aim to reflect the results of debates on re-constructing artistic movements. It will focus on the issue of avant-gardes, on the transformations of literary events in the 20th and 21st centuries, on key figures and works, and on intermedial aspects of Czech literature (literature and film, music, visual arts).
