Annotation:

The seminar will briefly introduce participants to the basic principles of insolvency law, including basic terminology (bankruptcy, insolvency court, debt relief, reorganization, estate, etc.). The course will then focus on the dominant insolvency agenda in the context of the current debt problem in the Czech Republic, i.e., debt relief (personal bankruptcy), from the identification of the debtor, the filing of a petition for debt relief (combined with an insolvency petition) and its usual shortcomings, through the actual course of debt relief and reference to the debtor's obligations (in particular, their economic offer and the efforts they must make to satisfy their creditors) and the role of the insolvency administrator (enhanced supervision of the debtor during the debt relief process) and the creditors involved (including the possibility for creditors to actively intervene in the debt relief process in order to satisfy their claims to the greatest extent possible), up to the end of the debt relief process (including the possible extension or cancellation of the debt relief process), i.e., ideally, the debtor's release from paying the remaining debts, completion of the debt relief process, and removal from the list of debtors in the insolvency register. Marginally, attendees will also be introduced to other ways of resolving the debtor's bankruptcy, and sufficient time will be devoted throughout the seminar to discussion and questions on the topics covered. The seminar price includes refreshments in the morning and afternoon sessions, coffee, water, tea throughout the event, and lunch at the JU cafeteria.
