The course will introduce secondary school teachers to new topics and trends in teaching in line with the current state of contemporary linguistic and literary scholarship. Course will offer secondary school teachers scientific knowledge arising from current debates on Czech language and literature.

The course will be taught by scholars with many years of teaching experience, specialising in contemporary language and the history of Czech literature in the 20th-21st centuries. The course will be designed with regard to the applicability of the knowledge in secondary school practice and will also offer the possibility of using electronic resources in teaching at secondary schools.

More information:

The first part of the course will cover preferred areas of research in contemporary literary studies, including overlaps with world literature. It will focus on issues related to Czech literature in samizdat and exile in the 20th century. The second part of the course will be devoted to critical analysis of discourse and ways of enriching language in relation to contemporary social thinking.

The lecturers will introduce the course participants to the possibilities of presenting these findings effectively in teaching at secondary schools, thus strengthening their didactic competences.
