Šumava - a unique place full of natural beauty and interesting history. Known, yet unknown. The Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia will set out to discover these places as part of the University of the Third Age (55+). The course consists of seven lectures led by experts from the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia and two excursions to Šumava National Park, during which the U3V participants will have the opportunity to get to know this area up close together with experienced scientists. We start on 19 March 2025 in lecture room C1 at the Faculty of Science of the Jagiellonian University.
The course will include topics such as Šumava history and cultural perception, the richness of flora and fauna, the uniqueness of glacial lakes and peat bogs, bark beetle issues and the dynamics of Šumava spruce forests. The course will end with unique discussions in the field. Join us on an unforgettable journey through Šumava!
